How to Score Paper 3, Biology.

Assalamualaikum guys...

Today, I would like to give some tips about how to score highest mark in Paper 3, Biology. These guidelines is created by one of our Biology Senior Teacher, Mr. Zolkofli Awang, from MRSM Kepala Batas, Penang. If you have any problems to understand all the tips given, don't be hesitate to contact me through my email address, syahirah_skyhawk85@yahoo.com. So.. Here are the tips...

·         Read the stem of the questions UNDERLINED & MARK
·         Re-write  MV [cMV, aMV],  RV [cRV, aRV] &  CV
·         DON'T ANSWER the questions until you identified the variables
·         Use magic box

(b)    FORMULAE 2:   Measuring using numbers

·         Read/Measure/count + decimal point (if compulsory) +  Unit

(c)    FORMULAE 3:   Observation

·         COPY  title of the table* =  MV +  CRV and construct a sentence

Phospholipids Bilayer

The picture above show a structure of phospholipids bilayer. This structure can be found on the plasma membrane. The components of this structures are:
1. Phospholipids
2. Protein
3. Chloesterol

Phospholipids
The structure of phospholipids consists of :
1. Hydrophilic Head - love water molecule
2. Hydrophobic Tail - hate water molecule

Stucture of Phospholipids

Protein
There are two proteins:
1. Carrier protein
2. Pore protein

Example of substances that can pass through into :
1. Carries protein - Large water molecule [ Glucose and Amino Acids]
2. Pore protein - Small water molecule [ Ions]

Cholesterol
Makes the bilayer stronger, more flexible and less permeable to water-soluble substances such as ions

Technology and Innovation in Education

Salam...
Today, I would like to post something about 'Technology and Innovation in Education [TIE]".

What is "Technology and Innovation in Education"???

It is one of subject that must be taken while doing Diploma in Education at International Islamic University Malaysia, Gombak

What are the rationals taking this subjects???

"To give students the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to use technology and innovation in the classroom".
In my opinion, this subject allow the students to enhance the skills in teaching and learning especially Biology subject. As we all know, Biology subject is very hard to understand and need a lots of remembering the facts. With exposure to this subjects, it helps me and my friends about the technology can help in teaching and learning process.

Learning Outcomes TIE?
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of fundamental concepts such as instructional concepts, innovation, instructional media, instructional systems, traditional and digital media.
  2. Produce good quality instructional media based on a chosen instructional theory or model and on sound visual principles.
  3. Evaluate  the suitability of a selected instructional system based on the criteria for instructional media selection
  4. Demonstrate how computer,  multimedia and the internet can be utilized in various instructional settings
  5. Explain some of the challenges faced by Malaysian educator in utilizing technology within diverse instructional settings and the ways of overcoming the challenges
Conclusion...

Technology and Innovation in Education give a lots of opportunity for us to enhance the process of teaching and learning. For Biology subject, we can use advance powerpoint that already learnt in this course. This method of teaching using the current technology can attract the students attention. In this course, we also need to do the project advance powerpoint by use our own subject which is Biology. Therefore, our group choose subtopic Photosynthesis to make the subtopic more attractive and easy to learn and understand. We also want to say thank you to our Lecturer Dr. Sharifah Sariah Syed Hassan for all the advises and assistance while doing this project.
